Unmanned aircraft & systems — Eindhoven, since 2022

Imagine the aircraft nobody sells. We build exactly that one.

“We need

Naevius designs and builds unmanned aircraft and the systems around them. You describe what it has to do; we take on the aerodynamics, the structures, the electronics, the suppliers and the flight testing, and hand back a working prototype with the files behind it.

Working with us

What a programme asks of you.

Hardware development can take up as much of a client's week as it does of the budget. It does not have to, and how closely you want to be involved is a setting rather than a condition.

01

Describe what it has to do

A specification, a sketch, or a sentence about the outcome you need. If the requirement is not fully formed yet, working it out properly is part of the job rather than a prerequisite for starting.

02

Choose a direction

We come back with two or three configurations that could meet the requirement, sized and costed, with the trade-offs set out plainly. You decide which one goes forward.

03

Stay as close as suits you

We run the day-to-day work and report on it regularly, with decisions and test results shared as they happen. You can redirect the programme at any point. Equally, if you would rather leave it with us between updates, that works too.

Custom work

Built to a requirement rather than to a catalogue.

Most enquiries begin because an existing product does not meet a particular constraint — endurance, payload, operating environment, or the way a system has to be used in the field. That constraint is where the design starts.

Process

How a programme usually runs.

Timings below are indicative. A ground station on its own runs shorter, and a certified platform considerably longer.

Week 0

Frame it

Mission, payload, endurance, environment and budget, written down before anything is drawn.

Weeks 1–3

Concept

Two or three configurations, compared on the numbers that will decide between them.

Weeks 3–10

Detail design

Aerodynamics, structures, systems and manufacturing method, with specialists brought in as needed.

Weeks 10–16

Build and fly

Prototype assembled, instrumented and flown, with the results fed back into the design.

Handover

Handover

Drawings, firmware, test data and supplier contacts, so the design can be manufactured with us or without us.

The practice

A small practice with a wider network.

Naevius was founded in Eindhoven in 2022. We keep a core team and bring in specialists — RF, embedded, composites, certification — for the programmes that need them, which keeps the practice small without limiting what it can take on.
